    Vote for Upstate's top linebacker headed into 2024 high school football season

    The Upstate is full of talented high school football linebackers. Vote for your favorite. Polls will close at 5 p.m. Friday. Multiple votes are allowed.

    Here are seven candidates listed in alphabetical order:

    Peyton Jones, Spartanburg: Jones had 65 unassisted tackles, 83 total, and made 13.5 tackles for loss.

    Tye Kelly, Belton-Honea Path: Kelly had 48 unassisted tackles, 76 in all, with 12 tackles for loss for the 13-1 Bears.

    Andrew Ruppe, Gaffney : Ruppe had 11 interceptions, second-best in the state, and also made 24 solo tackles with two forced fumbles.

    Cam Smith, Spartanburg: Smith had 122 tackles with 23.5 for loss and 10.5 sacks. He also caused three fumbles and recovered two.

    Wyatt Ward, J.L. Mann: Ward had 155 tackles to lead the Upstate. He had 12 tackles for loss, four sacks, six quarterback pressures and three interceptions.

    Jaxx Wilson, Westside: Wilson had 116 tackles, 27 unassisted, with six for loss of yardage for the Class AAAA state champions.

    Cayden Workman, J.L. Mann : Workman last season at Eastside had 102 tackles, 13 for loss, with two sacks and eight quarterback pressures.
