    Netflix-star, Greenville-native Rob 'The Rabbit' Pitts dies; memorial service details

    Greenville native and Netflix star Rob "The Rabbit" Pitts died on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Prisma Health Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

    The American muscle car and pickup truck enthusiast known for his role on the Netflix show "Tex Mex Motors" had spent the past five months battling stomach cancer and published a detailed voyage through his fight against the disease on his YouTube channel, which has garnered nearly 3 million views.

    He was 45 years old.

    Respected and admired for his personality and storytelling abilities on the YouTube Channel VINwiki, Rob "The Rabbit" Pitts gave first-person details on his passion for vintage cars and trucks, including business dealings, repairs, and one-off stories that showcased his expertise in the automotive world.

    Pitts was a dedicated vintage car enthusiast, specifically pickup trucks and American muscle cars. He began working for a family diesel business and eventually started his own car-based radio show called "Hot Rods and Happy Hour." He also owned Pitts Truck Service, among many other odd-end vehicle-based jobs.

    Pitts made a name for himself at local auctions and selling vehicles through eBay, eventually garnering enough attention through business, connections and YouTube to grab the attention of Netflix, who featured him and Marcos "Scooter" Carrera in a 2023 series called "Tex Mex Motors" where together, they would hunt for used cars in Mexico and repair them at a shop in El Paso, Texas.

    "The Rabbit" is a Wade Hampton High School graduate who had begun preparing for a second season of "Tex Mex Motors" but started to feel a change in his weight, appetite and overall wellness during an automotive trade show late in 2023 before ultimately dying of stomach cancer on Aug. 25.

    At the time of his death, Rob "The Rabbit" Pitts' social media presence garnered around 60,000 followers on Instagram and nearly 156,000 subscribers on YouTube.

    Memorial service plans for Rob Pitts in Easley

    According to Pitt's online obituary , a visitation service will be held at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs in Easley, on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.; a car show is expected to take place during this time.

    Pitt's funeral service will follow from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will be officiated by Rev. James Hester. It is open to the public.
