City leaders say Downtown bar had number of incidents before shooting

Greenville City leaders say a downtown bar had multiple complaints and violations before a deadly shooting that happened outside of the establishment.

As we previously reported, 27 year old William Shamari Shade died after being shot outside of the bar in late May. 28 year old Brian Josiah Murray was arrested and is charged with murder. The city says the bar 821 Greenville had a half a dozen reported incidents from January of this year until the shooting in late May.

The city says the bar did not have security guards or off-duty cops on site, which is a violation. The bar also violated state law by advertising shots being sold for a penny.

The city says the owner was notified of violations earlier this year and was on permit probation when the shooting occurred. The city has since revoked the bar's permit.
