Duo accused of pressing hot knife against victim’s face in Hudson Falls
A Glens Falls man and Warrensburg woman were arrested after allegedly holding a victim up against a wall, heating up a knife with a blow torch, and pressing it against their face. Richard Smith, 39, and Alyssa Johnson, 38, both face charges.
Man pulled from Clarksville cave after hours-long rescue
A 20-year-old from Queensbury was pulled from a Clarksville cave after crews worked for hours to save him. Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says the entire process took five hours and the man escaped with very minor injuries.

Inmate Punches, Bites Corrections Officer At Saratoga County Jail, Police Say
The incident happened Wednesday, May 22, at the Saratoga County jail in Ballston Spa, but was not reported publicly until Tuesday, July 2. Sheriff’s officials said John Rathbun, age 26, punched a corrections officer in the face and bit him, causing injuries. The officer was treated at a medical facility and released.

Power line worker critically injured on the job in Arlington, VT
An electrical line worker is in critical but stable condition after being severely injured on the job in Bennington County. Jonathan Abner, 44, is from New Richmond, Ohio. Vermont State Police say he touched a live wire on Route 7A in Arlington shortly after 4:30 Thursday afternoon. He was recovering at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston at last report from injuries that included burns. Abner works for a utility company that has a contract with Green Mountain Power.
