Sunday marked 50 years since 24 people died in a disco fire just over the Greenwich-Port Chester line in New York. David Dandrea says he'll never be able to forget that horrific Saturday night in 1974 when fire ripped through Gulliver's Discotech. Dandrea, who was 23 years old at the time, lost his 19-year-old cousin Michael Gauruder. Richard Gibson, 72, says memories of that night are no less haunting 50 years later. “I don't know, it felt like I was on the Titanic or something – everybody's having fun one minute and then I leave and I get a phone call in the morning that there was a big fire,” said Gibson. A 22-year-old Greenwich man served 12 years in prison for setting the fire in an adjacent building. "
