GREENWOOD, Ind. – One of Greenwood’s newest restaurants plans to open in the fall.

Officials with Aspen Creek Grill held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday at 1287 N. Emerson Ave. near Walmart.

Once finished, the restaurant will seat up to 275 people, according to managing partner Mike Bennett. Unlike the Aspen Creek Grill in Noblesville, the Greenwood location will not have a patio, although Bennett said one could be added later.

According to Bennett, Greenwood seemed like a natural landing spot for the chain’s latest restaurant.

“One of the reasons we chose the Greenwood community is that we know there is a desire and a need for new restaurants as this area has been booming with more families and more businesses coming in,” Bennett said.

The chain serves up Black Angus steaks, salads, ribs and burgers in a family-friendly atmosphere inspired by a mountain lodge. It features a full bar and daily drink and food specials. Bennett described the atmosphere as “cozy and inviting.”

In addition to the steaks, some of Bennett’s favorites include the Pow Wow Shrimp, the Mile-High Meatloaf, the Chili Rubbed Pork Chop and the Decadent Salmon. Everything at the restaurant is made from scratch.

“Every day we come in, we cut our own steaks. We cut our fish and our chicken,” Bennett said. “We chop our own lettuce, shred our cheese, dice our tomatoes, make all our dressings and sauces.”

Bennett described it as an “amazing process” that prioritizes quality while keeping value in mind.

“We keep it at a value-minded perspective so that you can eat at the restaurant multiple times in a month instead of just that one, special place you go to because it’s too expensive.”

The Greenwood location will be the chain’s eighth. Aspen Creek Grill also has restaurants in Texas (Amarillo, Irving, Lubbock, San Antonio and Tyler) and Kentucky (Louisville), along with two Indiana locations (Noblesville and the forthcoming Greenwood restaurant).

Officials didn’t pin down an exact date for opening, saying only that the Greenwood location was coming in “late fall.”
