Pinckney man pleads guilty after disturbing behavior at Food Truck Friday
PINCKNEY — A local man arrested at Food Truck Fridays on June 21 after exhibiting disturbing behavior toward children has pled guilty and will be sentenced in August. According to court records, Jeremy Mills, 38, was charged with kidnapping child enticement (a felony), two charges of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer (a felony), two counts of assault and battery (a misdemeanor) and disorderly person jostling (a misdemeanor).
Suspects in car dealership break-in head to circuit court
PINCKNEY — Suspects in a car dealership break-in have been bound over to 44th Circuit Court. Desean Lamar Stanley, 19, from Detroit, was bound over July 8 on three charges of breaking and entering (a felony), two charges of motor vehicle unlawful driving away (a felony), larceny (a felony), four counts of fleeing and eluding police in a vehicle fourth degree (a felony), reckless driving (a misdemeanor) and operating a vehicle with a suspended/revoked/denied license (a misdemeanor).

Incident #: 24-2304 Location: 14000 block of E Old US 12. INFORMATION: While on routine patrol an officer observed a vehicle traveling towards them at what appeared to be faster than the posted speed limit. The officer turned his vehicle around and was able to confirm the vehicle was in violation of the posted speed limit. The officer stopped the vehicle in the 14000 block of E Old US 12 and made contact with the driver of the vehicle. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle the officer immediately noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle as well as the driver as the driver spoke with the officer.

MASON — Teenagers from Jackson and Tuscola counties were caught following a lengthy police pursuit that ended with a crash in Delhi Township on Wednesday morning. Calls for police service up 27% over last year. In June 2024, Deputies responded to 317 calls for police service in the City of Dexter, up from 250 the previous year, a 27% increase. Total calls for 2024 (Jan-Jun) are 1,640, up from 1,439, a 14% increase for the same period last year.
Nessel reviews fatal police shooting, finds officers acted in self defense
On Monday, the Department of Attorney General announced it has concluded the review of the December 1, 2023, officer involved shooting death of Stephen Luis Romero, 33, of Lansing, without issuing charges against the officers involved, finding they acted in self-defense. An investigation of the shooting incident was conducted by the Michigan State Police. It is the policy of Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office to request the Department of Attorney General review all fatal shootings by officers in Ingham County for the possibility of misconduct or criminal wrongdoing.
Armed Robber Targets Hampton Inn Brighton
The search continues for an armed robber who took cash from the front desk of the Hampton Inn Brighton. According to police, officers were dispatched around 1:20 am Monday. Prior to arrival, officers were advised that the suspect had entered the Hampton Inn Suites, went into the bathroom, and then exited the hotel. The same suspect then reentered the hotel armed and wearing a mask. The suspect went behind the front desk counter where a hotel employee was sitting, opened the cash drawer, took the money, and exited the hotel.
