April 19, 1937 – June 24, 2024 - Long time Corbett-Springdale area resident Marilyn Bernice Dearixon went home to be with her Lord June 24, 2024. Marilyn was born in Corning, Iowa April 19, 1937. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dearixon; parents, Fred and Hilda Hanks; and her brother, Lotis Hanks. She is survived by her sisters, Eileen Wainwright of Wasco, Joyce VanSpeybrock of Corbett, and Nancy Nicks of Portland; son, Phil and his wife, Holly Elvins-Dearixon of Corbett; and granddaughters, Alicia Dearixon of Vancouver and Clare Dearixon of Portland. Play East to launch free summer lunch in Wood Village
Wood Village’s summer lunch program makes its return next week, offering local students a safe place to play and get nutrition. The Free Summer Lunch Program, hosted by Play East - East County Recreation, begins Monday, July 9, at Donald Robertson Park, 24300 N.E. Halsey St. Activities will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, with lunch served noon to 1 p.m. All will be done at the picnic shelter. The program goes Monday-Friday through Aug. 9.
