    A 19-year-old mother was thriving.

Logan Nettleton had just moved out of her parents’ home into an apartment with her boyfriend and four-year-old son. She was beginning her second year at Portland State University where she was studying criminal justice — she was always passionate about addressing the injustices of the world. Her family described her as “talented, smart, beautiful and kind.”

But then a tragic incident cut all that short. Gunfire riddled her apartment, killing Nettleton. Five years later police are still seeking answers to that cold-case fatal shooting in the Centennial Neighborhood.

The shooting occurred at 3:33 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the apartment in the area of Southeast 174th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard. Portland Police Bureau officers arrived and found Nettleton dead at the scene.

Her boyfriend had been shot multiple times and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later recovered. Her son was unharmed during the shooting.

Police are still asking for support in solving the crime. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Oregon — any information that leads to an arrest gets up to $2,500 in rewards. Visit crimestoppersoforegon.com to leave a tip.
