Who doesn’t love a good hot dog? There’s just something special about a classic dog. Maybe it brings back childhood memories, or there’s something delicious in its simplicity. Of course, much like the classic cheeseburger, it’s possible to find outlandish hot dogs with all kinds of ingredients. Maybe you like the added toppings, or maybe you’re a purist, but whatever the case might be, there’s a hot dog option for you. And now, a local favorite hot dog restaurant that had previously closed over a year ago is back in downtown Phoenix and is ready to serve you up whatever kind of dog you’re hungry for.

Dog Haus closed up shop last spring, despite its rather prime location in downtown Phoenix. However, backers of the California transplant restaurant had faith in not only the brand but in the location. So, after the previous Dog Haus closed, the location was handed over to the regional franchise holder, who currently runs the other three Dog House restaurants in the Valley. With demonstrated success running the brand around metro Phoenix, Dog Haus has returned to the center of the area at 1 East Washington Street (Suite 120).

If you haven’t been to a Dog Haus before, the restaurant serves so much more than just hot dogs. It’s a jack-of-all-trades kind of place (as long as you enjoy finger foods). In terms of hot dogs though, all are made with an antibiotic-free, all-beef dog served on a King’s Hawaiian roll. A few of the dogs on the menu include the Sooocali (wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil, and aioli), Old Town (smoked bacon, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, pickled jalapenos, and cotija cheese), and the Chili Idol (Haus chili, cheddar cheese sauce, and onions).

Not in the mood for hot dogs? Sausages, chicken sandwiches, burgers, breakfast burritos, and sliders are also on the menu (as are cocktails and craft beer). Side menu items you can add to your meal include tater tots, fries, chili cheese fries (or tots), onion rings, sweet potato fries, Haus chili, and Haus slaw.

If you are in downtown Phoenix and craving a hot dog (or chicken sandwich, burger, onion rings, or anything else, really), Dog House is open Monday through Thursday from 7 AM until 10:30 PM, on Friday and Saturday from 7 AM until 12 AM, and on Sunday from 7 AM until 9 PM. Those early morning open times might be the perfect opportunity to stop by and try a breakfast burrito.
