Do you like a nice gyro? Maybe you just saw the latest Deadpool & Wolverine movie and suddenly crave chicken shawarma. Whatever your reasoning, few foods can compete with what you’ll find at a Mediterranean grill. Whether you prefer the classic lamb meat, grilled chicken, and maybe a sprinkling of American cuisine with the inclusion of fries, a brand new shawarma restaurant is now open in greater Phoenix and is ready to serve.

A few days ago, Shawarmaati Mediterranean Grill officially opened its doors to the public at 5498 South Power Road (Suite 102) in Gilbert. The restaurant offers many of your favorite Greek and Mediterranean foods, plus a few American sides for those extra picky eaters (although a lamb gyro with tzatziki and french fries goes incredibly well together).

The restaurant has a surprisingly robust number of salads, which includes Greek, caesar, falafel, fattouch (tomato, cucumber, lettuce, radish, onions, thyme, mint, sumac, pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, olive oil, and topped with pita), and tabouleh (parsley-based salad with tomato, onion, bulgur, lemon juice, and olive oil). Of course,  you can always add protein like chicken, beef, or gyro to any of your salads. It is a great way to bump up your daily protein without needing to go the way of a rotisserie chicken. The inclusion of chicken into a tabouleh salad is a fantastic way to eat fresh and stay full.

Maybe you’re hungry for that shawarma. There are plenty of shawarma and kebabs to chow down on at Shawarmaati Mediterranean Grill. Beef and chicken shawarma are available, as is the classic gyro, which is a lamb and beef mixture that comes topped with red onion, lettuce, tomato, and tzatziki. You can also order various kababs, such as the chicken kabab, which is marinated chicken, and charcoal grilled and served with lettuce, pickles, and garlic sauce.

You can turn most of the wraps and gyros into plates if you’d rather eat your meal with a fork instead of pita bread. However, there are additional plated meals as well, including lamb chops (four pieces of lamb chops served with your choice of hummus, salad, or fries), veggie platter, and the kafta platter (two skewers of ground lamb and beef mixed with onions, spices, and served with your choice of fries, hummus, or salad)

If you’re interested in stopping by Shawarmaati Mediterranean Grill it is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM until 9 PM and on Sunday from 11 AM until 7 PM
