With the constant, often overwhelming heat of greater Phoenix, it’s a surprise there aren’t more ice cream, gelato, and frozen yogurt shops around the Valley. Maybe it’s because the frozen sweet treats would melt as soon as you walked out of the store, but still, sometimes nothing beats a tasty ice cream cone or bowl of your favorite scoops and toppings. If you are a lover of well-crafted ice cream that only uses the finest ingredients, you’re in luck, because a new ice cream shop from Idaho is making its way to Phoenix at the beginning of 2025.

For such a small brand, Negranti Creamery has continued to turn heads since launching in 2010. Major publications including The New York Times, Martha Stewart, and Condé Nast Traveler have written about the ice cream shop, and now, a license agreement has been signed to open one in Phoenix in the first quarter of 2025. While an exact address has yet to be announced, it will be the perfect time to introduce the metro area to the brand before temperatures start to climb.

What makes Negranti Creamery special? All of the ice cream is handmade in small batches from milk sourced specifically from family farms. The ice cream is hand-churned on location, which gives it the taste you might be familiar with if you ever had grandparents who insisted on making ice cream at home.

However, unlike most brands that use cow’s milk in production, Negranti Creamery specifically uses sheep's milk. This is because sheep’s milk is easier to digest, and it is higher in protein, calcium, and nutrients. If you are someone who loves ice cream but it tends to make you feel bloated, or more than a scoop leaves you with stomach pains, sheep milk ice cream may in fact address this problem.

And don’t worry. If you’re not a fan of sheep’s milk the creamery still offers some cow milk ice cream as well as seasonal sorbets and vegan alternatives.

Currently, there are only six Negranti Creamery locations around the country, most of which are focused in Idaho and into California. Phoenix will soon be one of the latest additions to the brand, which is good news for anyone who enjoys naturally produced ice cream that isn’t packed with all the artificial ingredients big brands use to extend shelf life.

In terms of flavors, you will find many of the classics, such as vanilla bean, chocolate, fresh mint chip, and peanut butter chip. Other flavors include Crazy Cookie, Salted Brown Sugar, Black Coffee Ship, Blueberry Lavender, Strawberry Swirl, Thai Tea, Strawberry Basil, Chocolate Caramel, and Cake Batter (just to name a few)
