Grimes Sweetcorn is now shipping to out of state customers

GRIMES, Iowa — Grimes Sweetcorn is now shipping to customers who are out of state. After years of requests, Grimes Sweetcorn has decided to start fulfilling delivery orders that are out of state.

So far Grimes Sweetcorn has delivered to customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Nate Christenson a 2nd generation farmer with Christenson Farms, said that shipping sweetcorn can get expensive due to its weight.

“With the weight of sweetcorn it’s kind of what gets the cost. It’s the shipping and a dozen of sweetcorn weighs 11-12 pounds so that’s really what gets the shipping cost where it is and that’s kind of the biggest hurdle. But most people are maybe interested in getting a dozen so they can get that taste,” Christenson said.

Customers can contact Grimes Sweetcorn to receive a quote for how expensive it will be to ship. Customers in Texas can expect to pay $60-$70 per dozen.

Christenson said that he is grateful for customers’ interest in Grimes Sweetcorn.

“It’s cool to be a part of that, I guess. And that’s what we’ve heard is people are willing to, just because they want to have that. Probably a lot of memories around the table with family and friends and all of that and having their Iowa sweet corn. And we hear a lot that the other states, they don’t have good sweet corn, good local, sweet corn,” Christenson said.
