Good morning — At least 200,000 people were estimated to attend Sailfest — the largest maritime summer event in southeastern Connecticut — over the weekend. The two-day event, which turned 45 this year, drew visitors from across Connecticut and the surrounding New England states for more than 200 street vendors, offering food, arts and crafts and the region’s largest fireworks display.
Site of church collapse in New London is one step closer to becoming housing development

Change-of-Command for USS Delaware
A change-of-command ceremony was held last week for the USS Delaware pierside at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut. Commander Robert Low turned over command of the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine to Commander Jason Patton, who has served previously on four other submarines. Delaware was commissioned in April of 2020 and has a crew of over 130 personnel and is assigned to Submarine Squadron 12.
