Mosquitoes in Nebraska’s Panhandle test positive for West Nile virus
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A Panhandle mosquito trap site has recently collected mosquitoes positive for West Nile virus. These tests are the first ones to come back positive for the virus this summer, according to the Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD). These positive mosquitoes give PPHD, along with other health departments, an indicator of the location of the virus and where people may encounter mosquitoes carrying the virus.

Panhandle Elementary plans to open new playground in September
PANHANDLE, Texas (KFDA) - Panhandle ISD passed a bond in November that includes a new playground for the elementary school. “The community at large know that education starts with play at the elementary level. There’s social interactions and just the tangible skill sets that they develop, and that starts really on the playground,” said Panhandle ISD Superintendent Dr. John Sherrill.
