CHELMSFORD, Mass. — A fast-moving storm in Chelmsford brought down trees and caused significant damage to homes, but no injuries were reported. "I heard a crack – sound like a tree, lightning, all of a sudden the whole ground shook, oh crap, I hear glass shatter," said Aidan Philoon of Chelmsford.
Zip Trip Forecast
TGIF After stronger storms Thursday, we are waking up to more quiet weather today. Plan on some fog early, this will keep visibility lower for some. It’s our last Zip Trip of the season, and you’ll want a sweatshirt if you are heading out to Walpole with temperatures in the low 60s early on. We will see more hazy sunshine again today with highs in the 80s inland and 70s at the coast. The haze is thanks to smoke from Canada wildfires getting pushed into New England, this is going to leave us with poor air quality. An Air Quality Alert has been issued for central Massachusetts, anyone sensitive to this should limit time outdoors. MOSTLY DRY WEEKEND Clouds will increase from west to east this weekend. The progress of a storm coming our way from the west has been slowed down by Hurricane Ernesto, set to pass well offshore from New England. Beachgoers must be careful for high surf and dangerous rip current this weekend along the MA coastline, particularly south facing beaches. Ernesto may be close to major hurricane strength as it approaches Bermuda, where rain is set to begin tonight and last through Saturday.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum hangs 51 points on the Washington Wizards
When Boston Celtics All-Star forward Jayson Tatum breaks a shooting slump, he doesn’t pull any punches. And he didn’t in his 51-point pummeling of the Washington Wizards, powering the Celtics’ 116-87 beatdown of the Wiz at Capital One Arena on that fateful day. The St. Louis native put up the third-most points of his career on his way to shooting 18-of-28 from the floor overall, 9-of-14 from beyond the arc and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Tatum nabbed 10 rebounds and 7 assists to round out his stat line. He committed one turnover — late in the game at that. If you...
Red Sox fans gave Jarren Duran a troubling reaction in his return from suspension
MLB and the Boston Red Sox went too easy on Jarren Duran, and the reaction to his return to the field on Wednesday proves it. Two days after using a homophobic slur responding to a fan heckle, the outfielder received a little extra support from the Fenway Park faithful. Jarren Duran received a louder than usual cheer when his name was introduced in the pregame lineups, and he gets another hand as he steps to the plate for the first time since being suspended.— Mac Cerullo (@MacCerullo) August 14, 2024 Duran has been open about his battle with mental health, so it's...

Photos: First Look At TOOTSIE At North Shore Music Theatre
See first look photos of TOOTSIE, playing at North Shore Music Theatre through August 25. Inspired by the hit 1982 movie starring Dustin Hoffman, TOOTSIE is the laugh-out-loud love letter to the theatre telling the story of Michael Dorsey, a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work until one show-stopping act of desperation lands him the role of a lifetime. Featuring a hilarious Tony® Award-winning book by Robert Horn (Shucked) and an outrageously clever score by David Yazbek (The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), TOOTSIE is a joyful show so packed with punchlines, it should be called a “jokebox” musical!
