Syracuse seeks new housing at site where restaurant operated for nearly a century
Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse officials are trying to bring housing to the site of a once-iconic South Side Syracuse restaurant. Mayor Ben Walsh’s administration plans to seek proposals for redevelopment of the former Cafe Garzone at 2426 South Ave. The family-owned restaurant operated there from 1921 through 2010. On Monday, Isael Cruz was sentenced to 2 years in prison for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He was originally charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
