Ithaca Common Council considering bird bill
ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Ithaca city officials plan to discuss a proposed bird bill. The ordinance would require all new construction projects in the city to meet bird-friendly standards. Since 1970, bird populations in the U-S and Canada have dropped by 30 percent. Experts cite collisions with glass surfaces as the top killer of migratory birds. Similar legislation is being discussed in Albany.
Cortland man charged after police say they witnessed drug sale
CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – A man is in custody after authorities in Cortland say they saw him selling drugs. Cortland Police were investigating Thursday, July 11 near the Speedway gas station on Port Watson Street when they allegedly witnessed Christian Rogers make a narcotic sale. The 32-year-old had fentanyl, cocaine, meth, packaging material, and cash in his possession, according to Cortland PD.

An Ithaca woman has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed a male victim on Thursday afternoon. Two men injured in shooting at Kirk Park
Syracuse, N.Y. — Two men were shot at Kirk Park Sunday, police said. Officers arrived at the park around 2:30 p.m. and were told that vehicles were leaving the scene, said Kieran Coffey, a police spokesperson. Officers also found a projectile and a vehicle that appeared to have been hit by gunfire, he said.
