HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 4, 2024) — Logan Schuchart won the feature event Thursday night during Pennsylvania Speedweek at Hagerstown Speedway. Schuchart, from Hanover, Pennsylvania, used the week off from World of Outlaws competition to secure his second victory during the Speedweek series. Troy Wagaman, Anthony Macri, Danny Dietrich, and Justin Whittall rounded out the top five.

High temperatures in the 90s forecast for central Pa. this weekend
The National Weather Service is calling for more weather in the low to mid-90s and possible thunderstorms throughout central Pennsylvania this weekend. Man killed in ambush outside Harrisburg concert had been live streaming the event
The Dauphin County Coroner’s office on Friday released the name of a man killed in an apparent drive-by shooting in midtown early Friday. Azar Hughes, 20, of Steelton, had just left a concert at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) when a car drove by and fired at him about 1:30 a.m., according to security guards at HMAC. The concert was restricted to those ages 21 and over, but people under 21 were allowed in if they’re supervised by someone over 25, under HMAC’s rules. Hughes was with his cousin, a promoter of the event who is over 25, according to John Traynor, founder of HMAC.

Sheriff: Taneytown shooting stemmed from road rage, 1 dead
A road rage shooting in Taneytown killed a man and injured two others, investigators said. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, Maryland State Troopers, Taneytown police officers and county fire crews were called around 10:05 p.m. Thursday to Bear Run Road at Runnymede Road, about five minutes east of town, where three men were shot.

A man was shot and killed in the 1100 block of Third Street, outside the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center early Friday, police said. Officers were in the area when they heard shots fired around 1:30 a.m.. The officers immediately went to where the shots were coming from and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

John Force, the drag racing champion who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a fiery NHRA crash less than two weeks ago in Virginia, was moved out of intensive care. According to an update from his team, Force, 75, was moved out of neuro-intensive care and into acute neuro care at the hospital where he was transported by air ambulance on June 23.
