Malachi Moore and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix make special appearance at Shoe Station
It was a special morning over in Vestavia Hills as Alabama safety Malachi Moore and former Alabama great and current Tide Director of Player Development Ha Ha Clinton-Dix participated in a special event with members of the AG Gaston Boys and Girls Club. The two Crimson Tide greats spoke to the children about the importance of education and being a good teammate both on and off the field. Following the speaking session, both Moore and Clinton-Dix signed autographs for the children. Additionally. Moore gifted each child a $100 gift card to buy a new pair of shoes to go back to school in. For both Moore and Clinton-Dix, giving back to the younger generation is what it’s all about.
New chamber CEO ready to engage the community
Nanette “Nan” Baldwin, the newly appointed CEO of the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce, said she’s bringing a commitment to community engagement into her new role. With over 21 years of experience from the Birmingham Business Alliance and the Metropolitan Development Board, Baldwin said she wants to help drive economic growth and foster a thriving business environment in Hoover. She wants to enhance Hoover’s business landscape through strategic initiatives, collaboration and inclusivity.

Hoover 14-year-old crowned Miss Ultimate USA Junior Teen in Orlando
Lucy Helland, a 14-year-old student at Bumpus Middle School, this past Sunday, July 21, was crowned Miss Ultimate USA Junior Teen at a national competition in Orlando. Helland, who is going into the eighth grade this year, went to the scholarship competition as Miss Heart of the South Junior Teen and competed against 18 other girls ages 13-15.

Construction begins on Guthrie's chicken restaurant in Vestavia Hills
Construction has begun on the Guthrie’s fast-food chicken restaurant at 1437 Montgomery Highway in Vestavia Hills. The restaurant is being built on the former site of the Hardee’s restaurant between Hollywood Outdoor Living and Vestavia Bowl. The Hardee’s was torn down, and workers began building the Guthrie’s earlier this month. The goal is to have the Guthrie’s completed and open by Christmas, said David Coble, the construction superintendent for Ganaway Contractors.
