Arkadelphia’s new band director brings 34 years of experience
Arkadelphia Public Schools announced its new director of bands, Texas native Larry Brown. The district said this week in a social media post that Brown brings 34 years of teaching experience to the position. Throughout his career he has taught both middle school and high school bands at 3C, 4A, 5A and 6A classifications, and his students have achieved recognition for excellence in the areas of marching, concert, sight-reading, jazz band, medium ensemble, color guard, winter guard and drumline at the region, state and national levels.
HSU removes historic bell for restoration
Henderson State University’s historic bell will soon receive some much-needed repairs. The cast iron bell, which has been a fixture on the university’s South Lawn for many years, was carefully removed July 17.
