Property taxes are on the rise
The city’s revaluation for Tax Year 2025 is complete, meaning property values and property taxes are on the rise. And although some increases may appear to put a strain on the wallet, Mayor Cherelle Parker along with city officials unveiled plans to expand outreach for key tax relief programs to mitigate the impact of revaluations on homeowners.

Offering more than 2,000 events every year, the lineup boasts a range of performances, including orchestral music, Broadway shows, jazz, comedy, contemporary dance, ballet, opera, rock, chamber music, and more. This season is the first to include performances in the newly rededicated Marian Anderson Hall.
25-year-old man gunned down at Philadelphia park
Philadelphia police are investigating after a man was gunned down at a park on Friday night.It happened around 7:37 p.m. at the Tacony Creek Park located on the 700 block of East Olney Avenue in the city's Olney section.Police say a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest and torso. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.Neighbors tell Action News they heard as many five gunshots go off.One woman said that her husband saw the wounded victim run across the street from the park, where he collapsed on the sidewalk in a pool of blood.No weapons were recovered at the scene.Police are still searching for the gunman.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.RELATED: Check the 6abc Neighborhood Safety Tracker

Police: Man dies after tragic industrial accident in Kensington
A man is dead after a tragic industrial accident in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.It happened just after 8 a.m. Saturday on the 2200 block of East Cambria Street.Police say a 30-year-old man was working on a private residence when he was electrocuted and fell three stories from scaffolding.Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. This is an on-going investigation.
