As the familiar sound of ringing school bells fills the air, it signals one clear message: the start of a new school year is just around the corner. School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony Watlington joined several school board members which included President Reginald Streater, and Sarah-Ashley Andrews to welcome students back to school at their Ring the Bell event at Phillies Citizens Bank Park stadium on August 13.
3 suspects wanted for stealing license plate off Philadelphia police vehicle
Three suspects are being sought after authorities say a license plate was stolen from a Philadelphia Police Department vehicle.It happened Friday around 2:15 a.m. in Center City.Police say the marked police vehicle was parked on the 100 block of North 13th Street.Video captured two men and a woman allegedly involved in the theft.The suspects were last seen in a silver Acura with possible New Jersey tags.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.

25-year-old man gunned down at Philadelphia park
Philadelphia police are investigating after a man was gunned down at a park on Friday night.It happened around 7:37 p.m. at the Tacony Creek Park located on the 700 block of East Olney Avenue in the city's Olney section.Police say a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest and torso.
