HAGERSTOWN, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Hagerstown starts the week with the final construction beam in place for the city’s youth sports complex.

The 11,000-square-foot project will feature four hard courts, two turf fields and a fitness center.

“It’s going to be incredible,” says former Mayor Emily Keller, now Maryland’s Special Secretary for Opioid Response. “Imagine what this will do for our youth. They have a place to go to play sports. It’s going to be great for Hagerstown.”

City Councilman Kristin Alshire imagines “a constant motion of kids and families coming in and out, waiting for games to begin, conclude, and folks coming back from grabbing a bite to eat.”

Hagerstown hired Eastern Sports Management to design and build the facility.

    Doors will open this fall.
