Police identify victim of deadly crash involving moped on Interstate 81 South
MANCHESTER, Pa. — A 70-year-old York County man died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 South Sunday night, State Police said. Richard Thornton Fletcher, of Manchester, was operating a 2015 Yamaha YW50F moped near Mile Marker 59.4 in Hampden Township at about 11:39 p.m. when he attempted to merge from the right lane to the left lane and was struck from behind by a 2023 Freightliner M2 medium-duty truck. The impact caused Fletcher to fall off his vehicle, according to State Police.
