    OBITUARY: Jane Coble Johnson

    Jane Coble Johnson, 78, of Hamlet passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.

    She was born July 23, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas, a daughter of the late Harold Coble of Rockingham and Thelma Adcock Coble of Pittsburgh, Kansas.

    Mrs. Johnson retired from the Hamlet Public Library and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Hamlet. She enjoyed her book club, working puzzles, shopping, dining and desserts. Jane loved her family especially her grandchildren. She was exceptionally proud of her work on the motion pictures “Billy Bathgate,” “A League of their Own,” and T.V. series “Matlock,” working with the wardrobe departments.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Johnson; and brothers, Steve Coble and Jack Coble.

    A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with the Rev. Randy Bishop officiating.

    Surviving are her children, Missi Boone (Jamie), Michele Singletary (Billy) and Kevin Johnson (Melanie); grandchildren, Natalie Johnson (James), Will Reynolds (Rebecca), Jason Johnson (Izzy) and Brooke Johnson; great-grandchildren, Harper Johnson and Case Johnson; and a special friend of 55 years, Patty Napier.

    Memorials may be made to The Richmond Co. Hospice Haven, 1119 US Hwy. 1 N. Rockingham, NC 28379; or the Richmond County Animal Shelter, 529 W U.S. 74, Rockingham, NC 28379.
