LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation is ongoing into an apparent murder-suicide in Livingston Parish near Albany.

Deputies responded to a home on West Bates Road in Hammond around 8 a.m. on Monday, July 1, where a man, woman and juvenile were found dead.

Sheriff Jason Ard said in an afternoon news conference that investigators believe Jenny Williamson shot and killed her husband Steven Williamson, both 49, and an eight-year-old before shooting herself either late Friday or early Saturday. Ard clarified that the child was not related to Jenny.

Deputies were called to the home after getting a phone call from a concerned family member.

He said the two adults had been living in the parish for close to or less than a year and are believed to have moved from Jefferson Parish.

“This is horrible. I mean, this is something that you never want to see. I’m sure that everybody has questions,” Ard said.

Deputies were still processing the scene as of 3 p.m. The investigation remains ongoing.
