HAMMOND, La. ( WGNO ) — A Hammond woman was arrested for impersonating an attorney to get access to two inmates at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Friday, July 19.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the woman, 44-year-old Connie Jones, allegedly presented herself to detectives as an attorney for two inmates being rebooked on additional charges.

Former Westwego police officer arrested for theft, profited over $100k

The detectives, being familiar with Jones from their investigation into the two inmates, knew that she was neither an attorney nor a paralegal in Louisiana nor in the broader United States.

After confirming other methods of misrepresentation from Jones, she was arrested.

While Jones was being booked, detectives discovered that there were people waiting in a car in the parking lot. An additional arrest was made after detectives engaged with the individuals and discovered that one was carrying synthetic marijuana.
