Repairs ongoing in Elizabeth City after equipment failure at power substation left about 1,000 customers in the dark
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Dominion Energy crews are working to restore power in Elizabeth City following an equipment failure at a substation on Tuesday afternoon. A spokesperson with Dominion said the crew was able to isolate the failed equipment. Dominion provides the power to the municipal electric department that serves Elizabeth City.

CHOWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - State biologists are advising the public to stay away from the Chowan River due to an algae bloom that can be harmful to people, pets, and fish. The Division of Water Resources reports that the algae bloom has been observed near Rockyhock to the U.S. 17 bridge close to Edenton since August 16th.
