NWS says northern Missouri could see large hail and weak tornadoes tonight
The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis says far northern Missouri could see damaging winds, large hail and weak tornadoes this evening between 6-9 pm. The NWS says northern Missouri towns like Kirksville, Macon, La Plata and Hannibal are at an enhanced risk tonight. While the best chance of severe weather late tonight and overnight will be in north Missouri, the NWS says mid-Missouri could see some storms, but they’re not expected to be severe. NWS St. Louis meteorologist Melissa Byrd tells 939 the Eagle that mid-Missouri could see some storms between 11 pm and 1 am.
Levee gates to be installed Tuesday along Hannibal riverfront
HANNIBAL, Mo. — All five levee gates will be installed along the Hannibal riverfront on Tuesday, July 2. A press release from the city’s Emergency Management Department said the gates are being installed based on guidance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service. The Mississippi River in Hannibal is forecast to reach 20.5 feet on July 4 and rise to 22 feet on Saturday July 6.

QUINCY — No injuries were reported late Tuesday morning during a three-alarm fire at a single-family home in northwest Quincy. The Quincy Fire Department said in a press release that firefighters were dispatched to a fire at 623 Spring.
