NECAC seeks school supply donations
PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — The North East Community Action Corporation is seeking donations of school supplies and cash to purchase additional items for Pike County students. “As the school year approaches, we want to help teachers not have to worry about providing enough supplies,” said NECAC Pike County Service Coordinator Penny Dixon. “This will lift some of the burden put onto our educators when children need items throughout the year. We don’t want them to be forced to use their own money to buy supplies.”

LOUISIANA, Mo. — Members of the Louisiana Community Betterment Association presented the LCBA Beautification Award to John and Donna Valentino. John and Donna bought a derelict home at 1121 S. Carolina in Louisiana, had the debris removed and built this beautiful new art studio. Donna is a wonderful artist and her husband John is a fantastic support system. WASHINGTON − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern recently named Brian Pearl, a native of Canton, Mo., as the agency’s deputy director. Pearl graduated from Canton R-V High School. He will serve in the agency’s second highest-ranking position as its chief operating officer. In addition to other responsibilities, Pearl will oversee GPO’s operations division, which includes plant operations, security and intelligent documents, official journals of government and customer services. These business units are responsible for GPO’s most important products including the U.S. passport, Congressional Record, Federal Register, White House print materials, secure federal credentials and other congressional and executive branch products and services.
