Officials are seeking the public's assistance, and offering a reward, after artifacts went missing from the Gettysburg National Military Park, according to a news release.

The artifacts were taken from the area of the Timbers farm, near Brooke Avenue on the southern end of the battlefield, the release said. Police and park officials are conducting an active investigation into the disappearance.

The release requests that anyone who was in the area of the Timbers farm between December 2023 and January 2024 to contact the Adams County Crimestoppers hotline.

Three questions in the community: The owners of Avalon!

Here are a few bonus questions from my time talking with the owners of The Avalon Ale House, Matt Albright and Jason Eckenrode, after Avalon just moved to its new location in the Grandview Shopping Center in Penn Township!

If you missed the article, read it here.

Q: What are you most excited about in the new space?

Albright: I was excited to see people in here eating and drinking, because I've pretty much seen the same eight people for the last four months in this building.

It was just awesome to see this place filled up last Wednesday night for our soft opening. I mean, completely honest with you, it just took off like crazy right from four o'clock Wednesday. It felt like we were doing this for months already.

Eckenrode: Yeah, all the staff on Wednesday just picked up and went right to work.

Q: Now that you got into the space, what's next?

    Albright: Getting some sleep. [Laughs]

I mean, this is just a start. Once we actually get into the space, it's even more work.

Like the menus and the cocktails you're seeing now, these were just ideas before you've been open. Now that we're here, working in the space, getting inspiration, we finally have time to go on a few more trips and get some, bring some inspiration back.

I mean, it's the sky's the limit. We haven't had a chance to go on a trip for quite a while to bring anything back. So that'll be a nice first time.

Q: How did you guys first start working together?

Eckenrode: We've always been friends. We have other places together as well, Divino's, Vinny's, Bubby's.

Thanks for speaking with me, Matt and Jason!

If any of y'all have feedback, pet photos, or questions, feel free to send them over to my email at hjones@gannett.com ! I will do my best to answer any questions if I can, and I will be happy to highlight any comments y'all might have.

That's it for your Wednesday daily briefing!
