A two-month detour of a major route in Adams County has come to an end, PennDOT announced.

The work to replace a box culvert on Route 97 in Germany Township, south of Littlestown, was completed on schedule on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, PennDOT said in a release.

While some work remains, and flaggers or lane restrictions may occur, the roadway has reopened, PennDOT said.

The announcement put an end to an extended detour that drivers had been required to take around the work for roughly two months.

JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs, is the contractor on the $2.7-million dollar project, which will include paving, base repair, guardrail replacement, drainage replacement, ADA ramps, signs and traffic markings, and other construction.

The entire project is expected to be completed by Oct. 17, 2024, PennDOT said.
