A Hanover church is honoring local first responders in an upcoming event this month.

"Honoring Our Heroes" will honor the work of local firefighters, medical personnel, police officers and military personnel on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 129 Charles Street in Hanover, according to a press release.

Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees are welcomed to see a public display of fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles, along with activities for children, including face painting, vendors and a variety of food trucks.

A musical program will begin at 7 p.m., kicked off with the Allied Veterans Color Guard posting the colors, a performance by The Barbershoppers chorus, and a performance by the Littlestown Area Municipal Band.

The event will conclude with free root beer floats for attendees, according to a release.

Tours of the church's UPMC Hanover Nursing Excellence Garden will be provided to visitors. Veterans support groups and the Young Marines will also be present at the event.

The event is expected to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the release.

"Join us as we pay tribute to the brave individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our community," the release shared.
