Miyares files amicus brief in support of Hanover Schools’ transgender student athlete policy
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares filed an amicus brief on Thursday in support of Hanover County Public Schools, which was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Virginia after banning a transgender middle school student from playing on a sports team for which she qualified.

LCM (50m) Live Results (on Meet Mobile as “USA Swimming Futures – Richmond – 2024”) Day 3 of the 2024 Richmond Futures started with the women’s 400 free, which 16-year old Lucianna Gutierrez won in 4:20.46. Gutierrez, an Indiana University commit, used a quick 1:04.11 closing 100 split to come back on the field and take the win. She swam past NCAP’s Maren Conze (4:21.28), along with Sadie Buckley and Alexandra Scime who tied for 3rd in 4:23.39. Gutierrez owns a PB of 4:19.48, which she swam back in May at Eastern Zone Super Sectionals.

During the 2024 Olympic Games, 12 On Your Side will have an alternate schedule for news. 12 News Today from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on CW Richmond, will not change. VCU 1st Baseman Chris McHugh is transferring to NC State!. McHugh just wrapped up his Freshman season for the Rams, batting .273, with 6 Home Runs, 33 RBI’s, 36 Runs, 22 BB’s, 5 Doubles and 4 Stolen Bases. He boasted an OBP of .390. McHugh started in 53 of the 55 games he played in.
