Dozens flock to Franklin County Trump store after assassination attempt
BOONES MILL, Va. (WDBJ) - News of the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump led to an influx of customers Saturday night at the Trump Town store in Boones Mill. Store owner Whitey Taylor said 60-70 customers went into his shop that has gained notoriety for its Trump-themed merchandise.
Firefighter being treated for heat exhaustion following fire in Roanoke: Officials
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — The Roanoke FireEMS Department said one firefighter is being treated for heat exhaustion following a fire on Monday. At 7:49 p.m., crews were dispatched by the E-911 Center for an odor in the 2000 block of Lynn Avenue SW, officials said. Upon arrival, Engine 8 reported smoke showing from an apartment and upgraded to a working fire.

Six killed in traffic crashes on Va. highways during July 4 holiday
RICHMOND – Preliminary data indicates six individuals lost their lives in six traffic crashes during the five-day statistical counting period designated for the July 4, 2024, holiday. Of those who died, one was a pedestrian struck in a hit-and-run crash, four were drivers and one was a passenger. The fatal crashes took place in the City of Richmond and the counties of Bedford, Charles City, Henrico and Wythe counties. Two of the fatal crashes occurred in Bedford County. During the two-day statistical counting period for July 4, 2023, traffic crashes claimed seven lives on Virginia’s highways.*
