Harlingen CISD and law enforcement officials provided an inside look at a Friday active shooter training. The practice was held at a Harlingen CISD campus. Officers with the city police department, deputies with the sheriff’s office and first responders attended the training in full tactical gear— ready to respond to an emergency.

Official Media Statement: South Padre Island Shark Encounters
On July 4, Texas Game Wardens, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the South Padre Island Police Department (SPI PD) and Cameron County Park Rangers responded to reports of people being bitten by a shark at South Padre Island, within city limits. Details at this time indicate that two people were bitten and two people encountered the shark but were not seriously injured. The two victims who were bitten were transported to Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville where one is being treated and the other has been flown out for further treatment.
K9 Officer Marco's Legacy Preserved in Weslaco Police Department Relocation
WESLACO, Texas — On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, K9 Officer Jaycee (Marco) was relocated to the new police department at 300 S Bridge. The Weslaco Police Department proudly welcomed Officer Marco in September 1990, marking the beginning of a new era in local law enforcement. Officer Marco, the department's first K9, served the community until his passing in May 1992. The relocation aims to preserve the heritage and history of Officer Marco, who significantly contributed to the safety and security of Weslaco, according to the Weslaco Police Department.
