HARLINGEN, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Cameron County Precinct 4 Commissioner Gus Ruiz, Driscoll Health Plan, and Sunny Glen Children’s Home are helping students prepare for a new school year.

The annual Back to School Supply Drive will provide the first 1,000 kids backpacks and supplies.

“We have a combination of both mesh and clear backpacks, which is pretty much what the local school districts are requiring. Also included are school supplies, paper, notebooks, pencils, erasers, and general items that every student is going to need this school year,” said Commissioner Ruiz.

The giveaway is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 26 at the Cameron County Pct. 4 office located on 26623 White Ranch Rd. in La Feria.

Any student receiving items from the giveaway must be present.
