The Lexington Book Festival is gearing up for a 3rd year
After celebrating a very successful 2nd year, the Lexington Book Festival is preparing for the 3rd Annual Lexington Book Festival, which is scheduled for March 22, 2025. Last year the streets of Uptown Lexington were filled with book lovers that packed the galleries of Arts Davidson County located at 202 North Main Street eager to see some of their favorite authors. From the meet and greet at Bull City Ciderworks hosted by media sponsor, Davidson Local to the on stage discussions with authors. The Lexington Book Festival was a weekend of enjoyment. The 2nd Annual Lexington book Festival welcomed twenty authors including Crystal Smith Paul, Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle, Alan Gratz, Jo Hackl, Charlie Lovett, Amber Smith and Ed Southern. An estimated 500 attendees enjoyed the panels and all of the events.
Moore County All-Stars become first team in region to play in Dixie Softball World Series
The 12-and-under Moore County Softball All-Stars are the first team from the region to ever play in the Dixie Softball World Series."I mean it really is a big deal," head coach Megan Jackson said.The team placed third in the district tournament and then finished second at states.All that is left is to travel to East Ouachita, Louisiana, for the World Series."From practice one I looked them in the eyes and I said 'Our goal is Louisiana at the end of July,'" Jackson said. "They all said OK!"The girls are on a mission to return to Moore County as champions."It's never happened so it would be like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Amelia Whitaker said.The Dixie Softball World Series is a double elimination tournament. Arrests made in drug bust at the Relax Inn in Greensboro

PARTICIPATION NUMBERS RISE: NCHSAA reveals significant overall growth in most sports
The North Carolina High School Athletic Association saw a 4.73 percent increase in overall participation during the 2023-2024 school from the previous year. Across all sports, 208,722 student athletes participated in NCHSAA sanctioned sports in 2023-24, up from 198,025 in 2022-23. This is based on information reported to the NCHSAA by its member schools.
