St. Louis County Council vote on funding for senior tax freeze put on hold
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Tuesday, the St. Louis County Council decided to put on a plan to fund a property tax freeze for seniors. The bill could affect around 150,000 households. The money would go towards the infrastructure needed to implement the freeze that passed in 2023. That includes an additional $600,000 to the Department of Revenue’s Budget in order to hire staff and set up an online portal for applications.

Columbia man drowns when canoe overturns in private pond near Harrisburg
A Columbia man drowns while canoeing on a private pond in northern Boone County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Shamsullah Zai, 32, was paddling the canoe Saturday afternoon in a pond about five miles south of Harrisburg when the canoe overturned. Zai, who wasn’t wearing a life jacket and couldn’t swim, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trial set to begin Tuesday for man accused of deadly stabbing in Ashland
BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) A man accused of stabbing a man to death in 2021 is set to face a jury Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Boone County courthouse. Robin Morales-Sanchez is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action for allegedly stabbing Moises Hernandez-Sanchez nearly a dozen times in the torso and leaving him for dead at an Ashland home in 2021.

Columbia man found guilty in federal court of trafficking fentanyl
A Columbia man is found guilty in federal court of peddling fentanyl. Michael Hunt, Jr., 43, was found guilty Tuesday of one count of possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. It’s unclear when Hunt will be sentenced but he faces 10 years to life in a federal prison.
