Columbia City Council approves updated ordinance for short-term rentals
COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ) The Columbia City Council approved an ordinance on Monday that updated its short-term rental regulations, but voted on some additional amendments before doing so. The amendments updated Chapter 13 of the City Code, which governs miscellaneous business regulations. Parents of children with individualized education plans or an education accommodation plan known as a 504 have a chance to join an advisory task force with the Columbia Public Schools Board of Education. LCM (50m) Results on MeetMobile (“Region VIII Speedo Summer Sectionals”) The final day of the 2024 Columbia Sectionals is in the books. The last day of the meet saw Izzy Ackley from Parkway Swim Club win the women’s 50 back in 29.26. Ackley, who will be attending Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall, swam a 29.25 in prelims. She holds a career best of 28.84, which she swam at the Spring Sectionals meet in Columbia back in March.

Huskers take seven titles at Speedo Summer Sectionals
Six Husker swimmers competed at the Speedo Summer Sectionals this week in Columbia, Mo., combining for seven titles and a school record. Gena Jorgenson won four events and broke her seventh school record with a 2:14.39 in the 200m backstroke. The rising junior from Aberdeen, S.D. became the first Husker swimmer to be named a First-Team All-American with her eighth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle at the NCAA Championships this season. Jorgenson added wins in the 200m freestyle (2:03.66), 400m IM (4:54.38) and 400m freestyle (4:18.29), while also pitching in a fifth-place finish in the 200m IM (32.65). Giulia Marchi finished close behind Jorgenson in the 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle, taking second (2:04.00) and fourth (4:26.71).
