HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man faces charges in connection to the death of a Vermont woman who was found in a metal toolbox in the Missisquoi River in February.

Vermont State Police said Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 24, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Kayla Wright, 29, from Derby, Vermont. Keith has been in police custody since his Feb. 6 arrest on federal drug charges.

Keith shot Wright several times on Feb. 2 in a home on Route 100 in Troy, Vermont, following an argument related to drug trafficking in northern Vermont, according to investigators.

Wright had been missing since the day before and hadn’t been seen for 36 hours when reported missing to police.

Aaron Camp, 34, from Derby, Vermont, and Terron “Josh” Pendleton, 34, from Waterbury, Vermont, were arrested on Wednesday in connection to Wright’s death. Both face one count of accessory after the fact to murder, and Camp faces an unauthorized burial or removal of body charge as well.

State police said Camp and Pendleton helped clean up the scene the following day, and Camp helped put Wright’s body in a large toolbox that was left in the Big Falls area on the Missisissquoi River in Troy, Vermont.

Camp and Pendleton appeared in court Wednesday afternoon and invoked their right to wait 24 hours before entering pleas. They are due back in court on Thursday.

Keith’s arraignment on the murder charge is unclear, state police said.

A mugshot of Keith was not immediately available.
