ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WWLP) – A man has been sentenced for double shootings in Hartford back in 2016.

Conviction in multi-million dollar health care fraud

According to the Connecticut State Division of Criminal Justice, 31-year-old Brandon Letman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release for the deadly shootings of 21-year-old Ashley Spence and 19-year-old Cameron Mounds Jr.

Back on June 21st, 2016, officers in Hartford were sent to a call on Enfield Street and found victims outside with deadly gunshot wounds.

Letman was found guilty of two counts of murder, murder with special circumstances, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of Tampering with a witness, and conspiracy to commit tampering with a witness on May 9th.

Letman also received an additional prison sentence of 10 years in prison to run consecutively to the life sentence for tampering with witness charges. An officer had to listen to more than 4,900 telephone calls that were vital in the investigation of the witness tampering charges.

“We in the Cold Case Unit, as well as members of the victims’ families, are grateful to Judge Gustafson for his careful consideration of the sentence in this case,” Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Fahey said. “We are also grateful for the judge’s thoughtful consideration and imposition of a sentence for the witness tampering charges because witness tampering interferes with the administration of justice.”
