Skidmore opens with pair of competitive matches in California
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Skidmore College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of defeats in the first of two days of competition at the Pacific Coast Classic. The Thoroughbreds lost a tight one in four sets against Occidental College (24-26, 9-25, 25-22, 20-25) before going down in straight sets against host Pomona-Pitzer (17-25, 13-25, 5-25).

Candidate for Plattsburgh Common Council charged with DWI
The only candidate in Plattsburgh’s Ward 6 common council race was arrested for drunk driving last week. The Plattsburgh Press Republican reports that Amy Collin was stopped by Plattsburgh Police on August 22nd and a breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .10-percent. The Democrat said she had three drinks at a local bar before leaving to visit a friend. She faces charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding .08 percent and failure to signal.

CASTLETON, Vt. – Vermont State University Castleton men's soccer launched the 2024 season with a 2-1 victory over Russell Sage. VTSU Castleton hosted Russell Sage College to kick off the opening day of the 2024 season. Kicking off the year was Matt Spiller, who stepped up to take the free kick after a foul was assessed at the top of the box. Wallingford, VT. – After a beloved statue was vandalized earlier this week, the Wallingford community is searching for answers. Wallingford’s Boy with the Leaking Boot statue has been in town since 1898, and was damaged sometime Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
