HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man was arrested after being accused of cashing a fraudulent check back in January.

Hartselle Police say that on January 12, a representative of Peoples Bank of Alabama made a report stating that a man had cashed a check that was determined to be fraudulent the previous day.

After reviewing evidence and surveillance footage, officers identified 40-year-old Nathan Dwayne Fanning, of Cullman as the suspect. An arrest warrant was then obtained for his arrest in January.

Hartselle Police tells News 19 that shortly before issuing the warrant, Fanning was arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail where he stayed until his release date which was set for Thursday, July 18.

After being released, the Hartselle Police Department took Fanning into custody and charged him with third-degree possession of a forged instrument.

He is now being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
