HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man has been arrested after being accused of multiple thefts in Hartselle.

According to the Hartselle Police Department (HPD), officers received a report of multiple thefts that took place at a business in Hartselle by the same person.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that 64-year-old William Charles Ratliff, of Hartselle, targeted the business multiple times during July.

HPD tells News 19 that evidence revealed that Ratliff took items worth over $600 without paying and was seen by store workers trying to take more items worth over $250 on Wednesday.

According to HPD, Ratliff tried to run away from store workers before being caught and placed under arrest by the Hartselle Police Department shortly after.

Ratliff was arrested for all of the incidents to date and was charged with organized retail theft.

He was booked into the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
