Hasbrouck Heights Council Approves DPW Contract, Stormwater Resolution

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – A resolution approving the Memorandum of Understanding with Local 108 RWDSU, UFCW, AFL-CIO CLC Hasbrouck Heights DPW Unit, affiliated with the International Brother of Teamsters was approved at the July 16 th meeting of the Hasbrouck Heights Mayor and Council.
Hasbrouck Heights Mayor Ron Kistner praised all the parties involved in the negotiations, noting that the department continues to do outstanding work under the supervision of Lenny Masucci, Superintendent of the DPW.
The Council also approved, on introduction, an ordinance to amend and supplement Chapter 234 of the Code of the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights entitled “Stormwater Control. The ordinance was revised due to NJ Department of Environmental Protection Agency guidelines being updated, and the requirement that requires municipalities to do the same.
James Lyle of Neglia Engineering provided an update on some of the projects in the monthly engineer's report to the Council.
2024 NJDOT Municipal Aid Grant Application: Neglia has assisted the Borough’s grant writer in preparing the grant application for the FY 2023 Kipp Avenue Roadway improvements. The grant application was submitted by the July 1, 2024, application deadline, and Neglia will continue to provide updates as they become available.
Woodside Avenue Road Improvements - Phase II (FY 2023 CDBG Funded). A pre-construction meeting was held on June 26 th , and subsequently followed by a walkthrough. The anticipated start date for the project is July 19 th weather permitting. Neglia will continue to provide updates as necessary.
2024 NJ DCA Local Recreation Improvement Grant Application: On May 31 st , Neglia was informed that the DCA awarded $68,000 to the Borough for this project.
Woodland Park Basketball Court Improvements (Bergen County Open Space Trust Funded). On January 31 st , the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund awarded a $121,000 matching grant for the Woodland Park Basketball Court Improvements Project. On July 10 th , the bid opening was successfully held with three bids being received. The lowest responsible bid was received by Green Valley Group Inc, with a base bid of $167,850. Neglia is recommending the contract award.
