Petal man arrested for Hattiesburg shooting

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ( WHLT ) – An 18-year-old from Petal turned himself in after a shooting in Hattiesburg.

Police said Christian Whitfield was taken into custody on July 12, 2024. He was wanted in connection to a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of May Avenue on June 26, 2024.

When officers arrived on the scene the day of the incident, they learned multiple shots had been fired, striking multiple vehicles parked at a residence occupied by several individuals. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, which officers said was domestic in nature.

Whitfield has been charged with aggravated assault: use of a deadly weapon, drive-by shooting/bombing, and shooting into a dwelling house.
