A Haverstraw man was convicted on all three charges of sexual abuse against a 14-year-old girl after a week-long trial.

Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh said Julio Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 47, of Haverstraw, was found guilty of three charges of sexual abuse against a child Tuesday after a week-long trial.

Walsh said an investigation by the Haverstraw Police Department and the Rockland County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Unit found that Rodriguez engaged in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a then 9-year-old girl starting in December 2019 and continued until 2021. On July 23, 2023, Walsh said Rodriguez engaged in one last act of sexual conduct with the same victim, who was now 14 years old.

Rodriguez was charged with second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree sexual abuse, both misdemeanors. He was found guilty of all counts by a jury Tuesday after a bench trial was conducted in front of Judge Sherri Eisenpress from July 1 to July 9.

“The egregious actions of the defendant in this case took away the innocence of a 14-year-old girl," Walsh said. "I commend the Haverstraw Police Department who worked closely with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit to ensure the defendant was held fully accountable for his actions."

Sentencing for Rodriguez is scheduled for October 1, 2024. He faces a maximum state prison sentence of seven years and will be required to register as a sex offender.
