Iconic bassist and Black Sabbath co-founder Geezer Butler has updated fans after getting quite a few hopes up for a final Sabbath show with all of the band's original members.

Speaking with BraveWords in a new interview, Butler shot down the possibilities he raised back at the end of May of an official Black Sabbath reunion with Ozzy Osbourne , Tony Iommi , and Bill Ward saying now that "it's just not going to happen." Butler adds, "Ozzy has been texting me about doing one final show with Bill and that's it, but it's just not going to happen. But I always said that the original Black Sabbath would never get back together."

"You say these things hoping if a miracle happens, that would be great to do it... It's up to everyone’s health, but I can't see it happening," he continued. "I'd love it to happen, even if it was one final song with the original four of us, with Bill on the drums. Even if it's just one song."

Geezer also touched on the topic of drummer Bill Ward's ouster from the band during the recording of Black Sabbath's 2013 album 13. "Me and my wife went to Hawaii and when we came back we found out that Bill had been fired," he revealed. "We were like 'Why, what’s going on?’ To this day we still don't have the answer to who fired Bill and why. There's been rumors about his health and that kind of thing. I was listening to the '13' stuff we did with Bill on that album and I loved it. It really did sound like the old Sabbath. Like the first three albums, the drumming on it. I love that kind of thing. Maybe it was the producer… I don't know."

Ozzy Osbourne, now 75 years old and currently recovering from a series of health issues, said in early May he believes there is still “unfinished” business that Sabbath needs to attend to before officially calling it quits. “It wasn’t Black Sabbath that finished it. It’s unfinished. If they wanted to do one more gig with Bill, I would jump at the chance,” he told host Billy Morrison . “Do you know what would be cool? If we went to a club or somewhere unannounced and we just got up and did it. We started up in a club.”
